Meet the Authors
Edward Marien, Ph.D. is emeritus professor and director, transportation and
logistics management (T&LM) programs for the Executive Education unit of the School of
Business, University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW). Besides having direct industrial
experience and providing business consultation, Ed's present instructional activities at
the UW include a wide offering of non-credit, continuing educational programs in T&LM
for industry practitioners from manufacturers, distributors, retailers, carriers and
third-party services providers in consumer and industrial market segments. Ed holds
degrees from Indiana University (MBA) and Michigan State University (Ph.D., Marketing and
Logistics).
Walter Weart, founder of Transportwriter.com, has 40 years of experience
holding senior logistics and transportation management positions with manufacturers as
well as serving with an agency of the Department of Transportation. His resume includes
positions with motor and rail carriers as well as other transportation service providers.
Wally has worked for national transportation and logistics publications and has authored
nearly 200 articles as well as all or part of several college level texts including the
just released 8th Edition of The Management of Business Logistics. Wally taught at the
Monfort School of Business Administration, University of Northern Colorado and is
currently a faculty member of the Institute of Logistical Management.
Lee Cisneros is a former corporate director of physical distribution for Cabot Corporation and The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company with responsibilities in domestic and international transportation, packaging, warehousing and distribution; plus he oversaw private fleets of tractors, trailers, railcars and airplanes. Cisneros consults for carriers, shippers and third-party logistics services providers. He is a life member of the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) having held several office positions with the League. He is founder and member of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L),been involved in many traffic clubs and has contributed many articles to transportation and logistics magazines.
